giorgio armani fall 2012

Today the Giorgio Armani Fall 2012 collection graced the runway in Milan. Menswear dominated often in the form of bermuda shorts. Dresses were layered over the youthful shorts to continue the menswear theme. Throughout the collection corals, pinks, and sparkles, along with the tailoring, gave the menswear its feminine  twist.

a goodbye to the 2012 oscars

Now that the red carpet has been rolled up and stowed until next year, I've found some time to reflect on the single most important awards show. Meryl Streep's big win was obviously a highlight, and Octavia Spencer's heartfelt had me  close to tears. But, all I really thought about today was the fashion. Had some women listened to me, they would have found themselves on best dress lists. Emma Stone surely would not have been Nicole Kidman's twin. But, oh well. Claire Danes put all the Academy Awards attendees to shame in her gorgeous red Valentino gown at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. I may have chosen it for Natalie Portman, but Claire Danes certainly looked stunning. Now, it's time to turn our attention to to other fashion excitement, like Milan Fashion Week.

best dressed

Tonight's dresses were stunning. I was head over heels for Michelle Williams. Louis Vuitton, coral, peplum. Absolute perfection. Jessica Chastain's Alexander McQueeen gilded dress was absolutely gorgeous and unexpected. Three other actresses from "The Help" also topped my list, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone, and Viola Davis. Octavia looked beautiful in Tadashi Shoji. I thought Emma Stone's red Giambattista Valli gown was gorgeous even though it was strikingly similar to Nicole Kidman's Balenciaga gown in 2007. Viola Davis stunned in her green Vera Wang dress. After much thought, I've finally decided that my favorites are Michelle Williams, Mila Jovovich, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Natalie Portman. How could you not love Natalie in vintage Christian Dior circa 1954?

Here are just a few of the gorgeous gowns.

more oscar madness

With 1 hour and 30 minutes to go until the red carpet fun begins, the pre-party pictures are already circulating my twitter feed. Rachel Bilson, Freida Pinto, and Diane Kruger all stunned at the 4th Annual Chanel and Charles Finch Pre-Oscar Dinner. My personal favorite as always is Rachel Bilson in her feminine dress and rocker chic jacket.

Diane Kruger CHANEL Haute Couture
Freida Pinto S/S 2012 RTW

P.S. Anyone watching the pre-red carpet show on E? Craziness.

oscar sunday

In the midst of all the Oscar hype, Milan fashion week heats up with Emilio Pucci and Dolce and Gabbana. Both collections are edgy and sophisticated as opposed to spring's flowing ethereality. Emilio Pucci's Peter Dundas used crocodile skins, high slits, and sheer cutouts to create this sexy sophistication. The Dolce and Gabbana collection is a baroque masterpiece filled with intricate embroidery, lace, and lots of black. Dying.

Look below for some of my favorite looks

oscar predictions

While perusing my favorite fashion blogs and watching an ad for the Oscars, it occurred to me that I watch to see the dresses, not who won. So, rather than predict who will win what award, I decided who will wear what dresses. If it doesn't go this way, the Fashion Police might have something to say.
